Bedtime stories for kids, with a gentle chat at the end to encourage sleep
In 2020, I started a Patreon account with bedtime stories for kids, audio only—no need to have kids looking at screens before bed. At first, I published one every week. I began with my most popular stories, then found others as I went along. I shifted to once a month. I’ve got a lot of stories up!
What kind of stories? Mostly folktales, but not exclusively. These are appropriate for kids age 3-10, for the most part.
Why here? I decided that I like Substack as a platform
I’ve been writing a weekly newsletter on here since 2023, with storytelling tips, stories, puppet interviews, story prompts and more. I like this community!
Patreon has been fine. I’ll keep that account open, at least for now.
I’m importing all the posts from Patreon here. I’ll post in both places. If you’ve subscribed over there, no worries, nothing will change.
Most of the posts will be behind a paywall, unlike my other Substack, More storytelling notes.
As a full-time storyteller, I cobble together my living from a number of different sources. I appreciate your support!
Some of the posts here will be free—and I’ll pop some extras in every now and then. Most of my other newsletter posts are completely free.
About me
I’ve been a full-time storyteller since 1993, after five years as a storytelling librarian. I travel the world (15 countries and counting) with a bag full of puppets and a head full of stories. What do I tell? Folktales, stories from books, my own original stories. I love telling stories to everyone from tinies on up.
Questions? Comments?
Let me know. I want to make this a pleasant experience all around.
